Kirsty Porter, the founder of K.P. Data Protection Consultancy began her legal career in 1996 in criminal defence overseeing all aspects of police station representation, advising clients and taking witness statements and managing high-cost, complex cases in the Crown Court with legal Counsel.
She later moved into legal services within the public sector, taking on the role of Information Governance Officer and Data Protection Officer (DPO) overseeing compliance and regulatory matters.

She also managed responsibility for overseeing data protection practices, including audits, providing training, and advising on compliance.
Having returned to work in the private sector as a Chartered Legal Executive and Associate at Birketts LLP, Solicitors in Cambridge and Norwich she provided specialist data protection legal support to clients across a wide range of sectors and sizes, from start-ups to international organisations.
In January 2025 Kirsty established Kirsty Porter Data Protection Consultancy (KPDP Consultancy) to provide data protection services to individuals and organisations in the UK, as well as to those companies outside of the UK who process UK personal data.
Embracing the independence of running a consultancy firm she joined Nexa Law as a specialist Data Protection Consultant Lawyer, providing her and her team with access to Nexa Law’s offices in London, Birmingham, and their head office in Owestry, Shropshire.
